Whipple disease is a bacterial infection caused by Tropheryma whipple, it interferes with the normal process of digestion by preventing normal food breakdown which results in reducing body’s ability to absorb nutrients.

Males are at higher risk of having Whipple disease than females and is common in middle-aged and elderly persons.
