This virus belongs to the Papovaviridae family. It includes two genera,
1. Human papillomavirus
2. Polyomavirus

What are the causes of Papovavirus?

Infection caused by Papovavirus depend upon the type of virus: –

Infection caused by Human papillomavirus:
• Warts: Flat warts, plantar warts, fig warts, common warts
• Juvenile laryngeal papilloma (HPV-6 and 11)
• Acute respiratory obstruction
• Genital warts
• Cervical and squamous cell carcinoma

Infection caused by polyomavirus:
• This can rarely cause any direct infection, but it may cause opportunistic infection in AIDS patients.
• Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy

What are the signs and symptoms of Papovavirus?
